History
Accommodation Trimaarzate thanks its name to the hiking and cycling path 'de Trimaarzate', recently built by the province on the reamaining foundation of the abandoned railway line 85 (Oudenaarde - Herseaux).
Line 85 (1881-1959) is known for being on the way; every day, large numbers of Trimards (=workers) took the train from South-West Flanders to work in the northern French industrial region.
Roubaix, Tourcoing and Lille had thriving textile industries and recruited massive numbers of manual workers of not densely populated South-West Flanders.
To this day, 'Trimard' is a well-known term among locals.
